John Pesutto will work with the local community to build an even better Hawthorn.
John Pesutto was elected as the Member for Hawthorn in 2014 and was immediately appointed Shadow Attorney General.
John lives in Camberwell, in the heart of the electorate, with his wife Betty. They have three daughters who attend local schools and play sport for local clubs. John and his family love living in Camberwell and are active in their local community. John has served on the local school council and has helped organise school and kindergarten working bees and fundraisers for many years.
John’s parents were Italian immigrants who arrived separately in Australia in the early 1960s without much more than their personal possessions and no formal education. John’s dad worked on the power stations in the Latrobe Valley and his mum worked in a local shoe factory. John owes much to them for the values they instilled in him and his four siblings. Values like integrity, honest effort and initiative, as well as generosity of spirit.
John graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1994 with degrees in Law and Commerce. Spending most of his professional life in the private sector practising law, John has successfully run his own small business.
Whether in business or government, John has spent his career standing up for the people he represents.
As Shadow Attorney General, John is committed to ensuring that Victoria is a place where the rule of law is upheld and the community is protected by a strong law and order framework.
