James Baras-Miller a year 7 Auburn High School student is off to New York

Today it was a pleasure to meet with an emerging film creator in our midst. James Baras-Miller is a year 7 @AuburnHighSchool student who made a series of short films on his father’s mobile phone about his teddy bear. These films were so good that they have been selected to be part of three international film festivals.

The first festival is in New York City where James’ film will be played at the New York Media Centre. Only 15 films were selected from hundreds of films from around the world – alone a massive achievement.  The second festival was even more incredible. He has been selected by a festival in Hollywood which will screen his film at the famous Chinese Theatre. This is by far the most famous cinema in the world where Hollywood stars like Bette Davis, Clarke Gable and even R2D2 have their handprints in the concrete. It even hosted the premiere of the Star Wars films and the Academy Awards.  Then a few weeks later, another film will be part of Australia’s largest children’s film festival and screen at ACMI and even the Sydney Opera House!

James has been invited to walk the red carpet and take part in Q & A sessions at all the festivals. Check back here for an update to see how James goes internationally. We wish him all the very best! JP
